The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at 澳门六合彩历史记录 in Jupiter has announced its course offerings for the fall semester, which begins Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Taught by 澳门六合彩历史记录 professors and distinguished guest lecturers, course offerings include such varied subjects as foreign policy, political science, film, music, art history and literature. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute provides seasoned adults the opportunity to enrich their lives through non-credit, university-level courses with no homework or tests.

Fall one-time lectures, performances and courses take place in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute complex at 澳门六合彩历史记录鈥檚 John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter, and include:

  • 鈥淭he Interesting and Tragic Life of Mark Twain,鈥 presented by Matt Klauza, Ph.D., a professor of English at Palm Beach State College. This one-time lecture will examine biographical events and how they shaped Twain鈥檚 writing.
  • 鈥淔rankenstein,鈥 a one-time performance presented by National Theatre Live. Captured live in 2011 from the National Theatre stage in London, this thrilling, sold-out production stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller. This is a recorded version.
  • 鈥淚slam in the United States,鈥 presented by Robert Rabil, Ph.D., a professor of political science at 澳门六合彩历史记录. This one-time lecture will examine Muslim society in the United States to gain a better understanding of Islam and American Muslims.
  • 鈥淩ace for the White House,鈥 taught Kevin Wagner, Ph.D., professor of political science at 澳门六合彩历史记录. This one-time lecture will give an in-depth look at how the presidential race is developing.
  • 鈥淒on Quixote,鈥 a one-time performance presented by the Bolshoi Ballet. This recorded performance includes principle dancers Ekaterina Krysanova and Semyon Chudin in addition to toreadors, flamenco dancers, gypsies and dryads.
  • 鈥淭he Music of Michel Legrand,鈥 presented by Joe Scott, a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, a professional jazz pianist, arranger and orchestrator. This one-time presentation will focus on Legrand鈥檚 accomplishments and provide insight into his music through the use of film, recordings and a piano performance of selected pieces.
  • 鈥淧aris: The Unplanned and Planned Versions of a Great City,鈥 presented by Hank Savitch, Ph.D., a Global Fellow at the Wilson Center and affiliate professor at 澳门六合彩历史记录. This one-time lecture addresses the question of whether, how and why Paris is different from other cities in terms of urban planning.
  • 鈥淛ewish-Christian Dialogue,鈥 presented by Paul聽 Mojzes, Ph.D., a professor emeritus of religious studies from Rosemont College and Alan Berger, Ph.D., a professor of Jewish studies at 澳门六合彩历史记录. This four-week course will examine various theological聽 reflections about the meaning of the Holocaust and other genocides and their effect on post-Holocaust religious reflections and behavior.
