澳门六合彩历史记录鈥檚 Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Jupiter has announced its course offerings for the winter semester, which begins Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018.

Taught by 澳门六合彩历史记录 professors and distinguished guest lecturers, course offerings include such varied subjects as foreign policy, political science, film, music, art history and literature. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute was established to provide adults of all ages the opportunity to enrich their lives through non-credit, university-level courses with no homework or tests.

Winter one-time lectures and courses take place in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute complex at 澳门六合彩历史记录鈥檚 John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter, and include:

  • 鈥淎madeus by Peter Shaffer,鈥 presented by National Theatre Live on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at 1 p.m. This one-time performance is pre-recorded.
  • 鈥淩ussian Covert Intervention in the 2016 U.S. Elections: Do We know What Really Happened,鈥 taught by James B. Bruce, Ph.D., on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at 2 p.m. Bruce is a 聽senior political scientist at the RAND Corporation where he leads research projects for U.S. government clients. This one-time lecture will clarify the controversy surrounding the November 2016 election of U.S. President Donald J. Trump.
  • 鈥淥peratic Love Duets,鈥 performed by Robyn Lamp and Edgar Miguel Abr茅u on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at 7 p.m.Lamp and Abreu, both alumni of 澳门六合彩历史记录, have performed in numerous operas, which include 鈥淣ot In My Town鈥 with Opera Fusion and 鈥淣orma鈥 with the Florida Grand Opera. This one-time performance will include duets by Bizet and Verdi and Rodgers and Hammerstein.
  • 鈥淏ottled Water: The Improbable Commodity,鈥 presented by Felicia Survis, Ph.D., on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. Survis received her M.S. in geology from 澳门六合彩历史记录 and has worked for the Shell Oil Company and the Florida Department of Environmental Resources. This one-time lecture will explore where our drinking water comes from and explore how bottled water has changed our relationship with water.
  • 鈥淪hakespeare Retold II,鈥 taught by Taylor Hagood, Ph.D., a 澳门六合彩历史记录 professor of American literature, is an eight-week course beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. This course will analyze plays by William Shakespeare.
  • 鈥淭he Vietnam War鈥 taught by Ralph Nurnberger, Ph.D., a former instructor at Georgetown University, is a four-week course beginning on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at 9 a.m. This course examines the Vietnam War from the colonization of the Indochina Peninsula to the involvement of the United States in the 1960s and the fall of South Vietnam in 1975.
  • 鈥淓ight 21st Century Films: the Reinvention of Cinema,鈥 taught by Benito Rakower, Ed.D., who received a degree from Harvard University in English, is an eight-week course beginning on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. This course will review films that depict the evolution of human relationships.
  • 鈥淭he U.S. Supreme Court and the Protection of the Constitution,鈥 presented by Susan Low Bloch, J.D., on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018 at 4 p.m. Bloch, a professor of constitutional law at Georgetown Law School in Washington, D.C., will examine the prospect for changes in the composition of the court in this one-time lecture.
  • 鈥淚ntroduction to the Psychology of Religion,鈥 presented by Douglas J. Wessel, Ph.D., on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 at 11:15 a.m. Wessel is an emeritus professor of psychology and a retired licensed psychologist in South Dakota. This one-time lecture will examine the ideas of philosophical psychologists discussing the importance of religion in adulthood, aging and death, religious transformation and religious experiences.聽
