澳门六合彩历史记录 Celebrates National Engineers Week

The annual week of events is designed to increase awareness of the engineering profession and recognize the accomplishments and contributions engineers make to society.

澳门六合彩历史记录鈥檚 College of Engineering and Computer Science will celebrate 鈥淓ngineers Week 2017: Engineers Change the World鈥 from Monday, Feb. 20 to Friday, Feb. 24. The annual week of events is designed to increase awareness of the engineering profession and recognize the accomplishments and contributions engineers make to society.

All events will take place at 澳门六合彩历史记录鈥檚 Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road:

Kickoff Event

Monday, Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Engineering West Lobby

Come join us as we kick off Engineers Week 2017. There will be music, food, games, demos, student organization tables, raffles and more.

Engineers Hunt

Monday, Feb. 20 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Engineering West Lobby

An engineering-based scavenger hunt will begin and end in front of Engineering West. Winners will receive a prize.

Build a Bionic Glove

Monday, Feb. 20 from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Engineering East, The Cube

A bionic glove is a 3-D printed hand prosthesis. The workshop will go over how to 3-D print the components and assemble them together. The finished hands will be donated to various patients in need of an inexpensive prosthesis.

Brain Bowl

Monday, Feb. 20 from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

The Burrow, Student Union

Teams of four students from each discipline will answer trivia questions while competing for prizes.


Paper Airplane Competition

Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Engineering East, The Cube

Students will compete to become 澳门六合彩历史记录鈥檚 Paper Airplane Champion. All materials will be supplied, and individuals will be judged on the longest distance and longest airtime of their plane.

Build & Launch a Rocket Workshop

Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Engineering East, The Cube

Students will construct a rocket with the materials provided, then launch them in nearby A.D. Henderson Field.

Olympics & Field Day

Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Housing Lawn

Teams will compete in a variety of activities, including relay races, bat spin, egg balance, tug of war and water balloon toss.

Ziploc Regatta

Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Campus Recreation Center Pool

Teams will have 24 hours to make a boat made solely out of a one-gallon Ziploc bag, 60 yards of Duct tape and a 5-foot piece of PVC pipe.

NASA Exploration for Our Future

Thursday, Feb. 23 from 10 to 11 a.m.

Engineering East, Room 106

Russell Romanella, former NASA director of safety and mission assurance, will talk about the current human and robotic exploration missions within NASA, and where we are headed now that the space shuttle is retired.

Presentations from IBM Bluemix Hackathon

Thursday, Feb. 24 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Engineering East, The Cube

Teams of students who have been working to prototype an internet-connected device to solve a given problem will present their final designs. Each team received free hardware and training from IBM engineers on Bluemix technology to develop their project. The top teams will get a cash prize.

Rube Goldberg Competition

Friday, Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Engineering East, The Cube

Named after the American cartoonist, sculptor, author, engineer and inventor Reuben Garrett Lucius 鈥淩ube鈥 Goldberg, the contest challenges students to put together a Rube Goldberg machine using at least 20 individual steps to complete an assigned task.

Video Game Competition

Friday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. to Saturday, Feb. 25 at 12 a.m.

Live Oak A & B, Student Union

Students will participate in a late-night gaming competition featuring Halo 5, Mortal Kombat XL, FIFA 17 and Super Smash Bros.
