Black鈥檚 lecture, 鈥淓leanor Roosevelt and the Battle for Human Rights: 1945-Present,鈥 is based on 鈥 The Eleanor Roosevelt Papers,鈥 a project designed to preserve, teach and apply Roosevelt鈥檚 writings and discussions of human rights and democratic politics. A noted Roosevelt scholar, Black has written extensively on the woman who redefined American liberalism and democratic reform.
Black, a researcher and professor of history and international affairs at George Washington University, has gathered hundreds of columns, essays, speeches, and photographs providing an in-depth look at the political writings of one of liberalism鈥檚 most outspoken leaders and trailblazers for human rights, women鈥檚 rights and global relations.聽 Black, who is currently designing a multimedia traveling exhibit on Roosevelt politics and policy, is a board of governors鈥 member of the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute, an advisory board member of the Center for New Deal Studies and a director of the Liberian Education trust, a project designed to rebuild the Liberian public school system.
